Stephen C. Larson, formerly with the national firm of Popham Haik Schnobrich and Kauffman, Ltd., has extensive experience in both water law and commercial law. This enables him to offer a broad range of services to his corporate and individual clients alike.

Mr. Larson has practiced extensively in the area of Western water rights and water law. In this arena, Mr. Larson counsels individual and institutional clients concerning such matters as the adjudication, acquisition, and administration of water rights under Colorado's prior appropriation and nontributory groundwater laws. Mr. Larson is extensively involved in water rights purchase and sale transactions, disputes and evaluations concerning title to water rights, and the development and implementation of complex water supply plans, including plans for augmentation, changes of water rights, exchanges, substitute water supply plans, and the adjudication of storage, direct flow and groundwater rights. Mr. Larson's water law practice is also extensively involved with permitting and adjudications of Denver Basin groundwater, and alluvial groundwater within Colorado.

In the context of his commercial law practice, Mr. Larson assists clients with commercial real estate transactions and leases, company formation, contractual relationships, and litigation. With respect to contractual relationships, Mr. Larson routinely prepares and counsels clients regarding AIA construction and architectural contracts, employee and consulting agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements.

Mr. Larson's commercial litigation experience has involved a broad range of corporate and commercial disputes. Mr. Larson's reported cases include In re: the Application for Water Rights of Double RL Company, 54 P.3d 908 (Colo. Supreme Ct. 2002) (successfully overturning a Water Court's cancellation of client's water rights); Brooks v. Bank of Boulder, 911 F.Supp 470 (U.S. District Court 1996) (first attorney in this Federal District to successfully lodge a claim for civil RICO liability); and Eagle County, Colorado BOCC v. Fixed Base Operators, Inc., 939 P.2d 464 (Colo. Ct. App. 1997) (involving novel and complex issues under the TABOR Amendment to the Colorado Constitution). See also, Certain Underwriters of Lloyds of London v. Martinez, 985 P.2d 142 (Kansas Ct. App. 1999) (successfully defending claim for bad faith denial of insurance coverage).

A product of the Midwest, Mr. Larson was born in Omaha, Nebraska, grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and received B.A. degrees, cum laude, in both biology and philosophy from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Mr. Larson received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1993, graduating at the top of his class with numerous academic distinctions. In law school, Mr. Larson was also an intern law clerk for the Honorable H. Jeffrey Bayless, District Court, City and County of Denver, Colorado. Mr. Larson was actively involved in the William E. Doyle American Inn of Court (Denver) from 1992-97. Mr. Larson, a resident of Colorado since 1987, currently resides in Broomfield, Colorado with his wife and two daughters, ages twelve and eight.
